Hailing from the UK, Palace Skateboards has made a name for itself through various collaborations across the fashion industry. Aside from teaming up with Gucci, Palace often takes over silhouettes from iconic footwear labels, with the brand recently working with UGG, Reebok, adidas, and Vans. Keeping things somewhat local, Palace is now working with Boston-based New Balance on a two-pack of 991 Made In UK colorways alongside an apparel capsule.
Following up on last year's New Balance 580 collaboration, the Palace x New Balance 991 Made In UK Collection features two takes of the iconic 991 silhouette. Both pairs boast premium materials such as pigskin suede, leather, and ripstop nylon. Vibrant colors synonymous with Palace's signature palette — including purple, teal, and red — are contrasted by earth tones and neutral shades. One pair showcases a teal ripstop nylon base with tans contrasting the vibrant colors, while the other pair features a purple ripstop nylon base complemented by grey, black, and white.
Co-branded logos land on the tongue while the midfoot hosts the usual “N” logo. Underfoot sits a two-tone grey and black midsole with accenting hits of purple and red on the purple-based pair and purple and blue on the teal-based pair. Rounding out the design is a black outsole with accenting hits matching each respective sneaker’s base layer.
The Palace x New Balance 991 Made In UK Collection will release May 12 through Palace online and in-store (except Japan which will see a release on May 13). New Balance will host a drop on May 24 via newbalance.com. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $260.
