While the 2022 FIFA World Cup has been surrounded by controversy due to misdeeds and alleged bribery by its host nation Qatar, the tournament marks the beginning of the most watched sporting event in the world. To get us ready for the event that begins at the end of November, adidas is pulling out their long-time soccer connections and bringing us a pack of Samba colorways that are tied to various notable FCs and nations in the sport in tandem with their Federation Kits.
Starting with the nations, Mexico and Argentina, both of which are competing in this year's tournament, bring their team's emblem to the model atop the tongue with each colorway utilizing shades from each respective country's flag. White leather, grey suede, and green accents on branding details with a gum sole cover the Mexico pair, while Argentina brings the baby blue action across the leather and suede with a darker gum sole unit contrasting these shades.
While the rest of the colorways represent individual clubs and not competing members in the tournament, each team is home to plenty of players that will see action in the World Cup, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern München, Juventus, Austin FC, and Arsenal FC. Each respective club gets its emblem plastered atop the tongue with colors from various kits taking over the suede and leather construction. Gum soles complete the look across the entire pack.
The adidas Samba World Cup Pack has seen a release overseas in Japan with a US release date up in the air, though hopefully, it arrives before the World Cup kicks off. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is $95.
