When it comes to basketball royalty, the University of North Carolina (UNC) sits atop the throne, boasting legends such as Michael Jordan among its alumni. The strong ties between the university and Jordan Brand have resulted in numerous player-exclusive (PE) iterations. While the older Jordan models predominantly take to the streets, the latest numerics are a mainstay on the basketball courts. Hot on the heels of the Jordan 38 release, Alyssa Utsby, a UNC student-athlete, offers us a glimpse into the school's exclusive take on the model.
Delving into the design specifics, UNC’s upcoming Air Jordan 38 sports the timeless white and blue palette reminiscent of the school's cherished colors. The toebox, tongue, and eyestays shine in a crisp white, providing a clean canvas for detailed branding. Distinctive insignias sit atop the tongue, with UNC's iconic logo on the left and Jordan Brand's emblem on the right, all adorned in a vivid blue hue. Transitioning to the sides, the silhouette displays its familiar textile pattern, weaving an elegant dance of white and blue threads. This chromatic balance continues downward as the midsole and the rubber outsole mirror the two-tone theme.
As a player-exclusive, the Air Jordan 38 UNC PE will not see a retail release but will be given to players on the Tar Heels basketball team.
