Everyone is well aware of the web3, crypto, and NFT hype that occurred in 2021 and 2022. In footwear, we’ve seen Nike introduce the world to two projects, RTFKT and later .SWOOSH, while adidas debuted its “Into The Metaverse” project. Concluding its third and final phase of this project, The Three Stripes has reorganized its web3 endeavor and is set to launch the first chapter of ALTS by adidas.
Now, all adidas web3 launches will go down on collect.adidas.com, where you can find all information regarding current projects and launches. Transitioning away from the “Into The Metaverse” moniker, those who own Phase 1 and Phase 2 NFTs can burn them and create a new token dubbed ALTS by adidas. This latest entry will conclude the project as the “Into The Metaverse” project was initially expected to have a fourth phase. adidas is dubbing this change into ALTS as “a new web3 ecosystem.”
According to adidas’ new web3 site, this new phase will be “an interactive storyline which will culminate with the reveal. Chapter 1 of this new adventure begins in April 2023 with further utility and enhanced holder benefits rolled out over the following months.
Each individual participating secures an "ALT" (essentially your online alter ego) that comes with one of eight unique traits to represent your style. The traits include Strikes (Soccer), Sprints (Running and Training), Hoops (Basketball and US Sports), Thrills (Gaming and Active Sports), Amps (Music and Entertainment), Soles (Sneakers and Skate), Decos (Art), and Drips (Fashion). While all that hold an adidas ALTS NFT will eventually have utility, including exclusive or early access to physical and virtual products, each specific ALT[ER] Ego will have unique and exclusive utilities tailored to their respective interests.
For the first drop, 2,200 sneakers made in collaboration with gmoneyNFT and Punks Comics will be released to the approximately 17,000 ALTS NFT holders. Those who don't own a token can still access other pieces in this upcoming drop including a hoodie and other apparel. This release will go down on April 26th in the EU and April 27th for all other regions.
