Many boutiques can land one-off collaborations with specific footwear brands, though atmos Tokyo is often called upon to bring their key eye for design over to labels like adidas, New Balance, and Asics. The latter of the three is once again reaching out to their Japanese neighbor as atmos Tokyo is adding python details to the classic Asics Gel-Lyte III OG in a "White" and "Black" colorway.
The iconic running-focused silhouette maintains its OG construction details with premium smooth leather and suede making up the various underlays and overlays. On the base layer, the latter of the two materials is utilized while leather lands on the mudguard, midfoot, eyestays, and heel overlays. Tonal shades make up the laces and panels, though the eye-catching Asics tiger stripe logo is covered in faux python skin. As for the rest of the branding details, they forgo mentioning atmos in any way, and instead, stick the typical “Gel-Lyte III” and “Asics” text on the heel. While not visible at first, the cutouts on the mudguard and heel actually come with a glow-in-the-dark finish. Rounding out the design is the matching Gel cushioned midsole paired with a rubber outsole that hosts GITD details on the heel.
The atmos Tokyo x Asics Gel-Lyte III OG Python Pack is set to release on September 23rd, 2022 through atmos Tokyo online and in-store. The two-pack will also see a US release on May 3rd, 2023. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at ¥16,500 (approx $115 USD).
