Asics may not be the first label when thinking of hype brands in the sneaker world, however, their craftsmanship and collaborative efforts rival those like adidas, Nike, and New Balance. For their latest partnership, Asics has tapped Japanese-based retailer mita Sneakers and streetwear label bal for a Gore-Tex-covered Asics Gel-Lyte III.
Keeping things simple in terms of its color palette, the three collaborators choose to dress the Duraback and mesh upper in shades of black with red and white accents landing throughout. Most of the Gore-Tex-laden upper takes on tonal stitching details while the tongue and collar feature quilted stitching details in a contrasting white shade. Laces take on a vibrant red shade and come contained in a bungee lacing style that allows for easy on-and-off wear. For branding details, bal makes an appearance on the spine of the tongue while Asics branding remains standard for the Gel-Lyte III with the brand's stripes taking over the midfoot and more logos landing on the heel. Rounding out the look is the black and grey midsole paired with a white and black rubber outsole.
The bal x mita Sneakers x Asics Gel-Lyte III OG Gore-Tex is set to release on February 11th, 2023 through mita Sneakers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
