In a surprising turn of events, Deion Sanders has apparently rekindled his relationship with Nike. The development comes after the legendary two-sport athlete and current head coach for the CU Buffs football team held a years-long deal with Under Armour and had sworn off the Swoosh publicly a number of times.
Deion's association with Nike had ended on a sour note after the conclusion of his pro careers in football and baseball. Sanders had made it clear on various occasions that he had closed the door on any future endeavors with The Swoosh. In an episode of Complex's Sneaker Shopping, he even went on record saying he would "never" work with the sportswear giant again.
Sanders was recently spotted wearing his Diamond Turf Max '96 while coaching the Colorado Buffaloes. However, many attributed this to the school's contractual Nike obligations rather than any personal inclination.
Now, ESPN’s Nick DePaula has reported that Sanders has signed a new deal with Nike. Sanders also shared a picture of himself on Instagramwith the OG Air Diamond Turf on his lap and a caption that read, "We coming @nike." This was later edited to "'We Coming' @nike #CoachPrime (posted by @deionsandersjr)."
This unforeseen development hints at the possibility of reissues of Sanders' classic Nike silhouettes or even new designs bearing his moniker.
