Virgil Abloh’s legacy in the fashion and sneaker world is often understated. The multi-hyphenate had his hands in many fields of design, from album covers to footwear and high-fashion products with Louis Vuitton. Sneakerheads mainly remember him for his work with Off-White x Nike, where Abloh applied his architectural background to several Nike silhouettes. Many of the more recent Off-White Nike drops have been on the AF1, though there are countless samples Virgil worked on, including this new Arabic text-laden design.
Shared by renowned sneakerhead Fat Joe, the pair comes with a black leather upper and features all of the iconic Off-White details we’ve come to know. An added plastic hangtag is attached to the lacing system; the “ghost” Swoosh is present with small perforations instead of where the logo is typically located. A larger metallic silver Swoosh is attached via extra stitching, and we see the added tag near the end of the Swoosh. However, the Helvetica text, located on the medial upper, lace aglets, and sole unit, is written in Arabic instead of English. The design has a white midsole accented by black Arabic text near the heel and a white rubber outsole underfoot.
