Collegiate programs that are aligned with Jordan Brand often receive player exclusive colorways on some of the most coveted Air Jordan silhouettes, ranging from long-time partners UNC to the newly signed Howard University. One school that receives the most love, and rightfully so, as they are intertwined in the founding of Nike, is the University of Oregon. Collectors looking to secure pairs of PE sneakers will have to go through connections and/or try to directly purchase pairs from players in the school athletic program, though the previously mentioned Oregon Ducks have auctioned off pairs for both charity and to directly impact student-athletes.
Coming off a recent NFT launch tied to 120 Air Max 1 PEs, it looks like Jordan Brand, Tinker Hatfield, and the Oregon Ducks student-athlete-focused initiative Division St. are teaming up with GOAT this time to auction off two colorways of the Air Jordan 8, limited to 200 pairs each. The two unique colorways, "Gorge Green" and "Pure Platinum" were designed specifically for the Oregon Ducks women’s and men’s basketball teams respectively.
Keeping typical AJ 8 details, each pair features a leather upper with ultra suede appearing on the cross-straps, vamp, and quarter panels. The "Gorge Green" pair comes in the titular shade alongside electric green accents throughout while the "Pure Platinum" keeps in theme with the naming convention, getting covered in grey and pure platinum. Chenille patches on the tongue get the famous Oregon Duck mascot while more direct branding for the school is present on the heel counter with the team's names written across the overlay. Completing the design is an AJ 8 midsole coming in a mix of shades featured on the upper.
Both pairs of the GOAT x Division Street x Air Jordan 8 are set to release via auction on GOAT, beginning August 24th, 2022 at 10:00 AM PT/1 PM ET and ending on August 26th at 11:59 PM PT/August 27th at 2:59 AM ET. Proceeds from the auction will directly support student-athletes that are attending the University of Oregon across all of their sports programs.
