While a rumored deal between Howard University and Jordan Brand has been floating around for the last few months, both parties have now made things official. The announcement confirms that the two will become partners for the next 20 years, making them one of just seven schools to fall under the Jordan umbrella.
This partnership is aiming to boost the influence of HBCUs on the collegiate level while also creating opportunities and inspiring the next generation to shoot for the stars. As Jordan Brand President Craig Williams puts it, “Howard University and Jordan Brand share a legacy of excellence and deep commitment to the Black Community. As a HBCU graduate, I understand the educational impact an institution like Howard University has. We are proud to partner with Howard University and see the growth in Black talent on the field and well beyond it.”
While the partnership is officially a go, the university’s deal with Under Armour is still in effect. The Howard Bison’s football team will debut the new jerseys on August 27th with more programs rolling out the clothing throughout the fall season, though there is no end in sight for the golf team as they are still planning on rocking Under Armour apparel and accessories.
If you’re looking to stock up on Jordan Brand Howard Bison gear, select styles are currently available through nike.com with more clothing pieces and accessories to make their way to the public in the near future. Though on the sneaker side, the PE J’s that the Bison players will be given are sure to have collectors in a frenzy over the next two decades.
