The Air Ship has a storied history. Initially released in 1984, the model was the predecessor to the Air Jordan 1 and was the actual sneaker banned by the NBA after being worn by Michael Jordan, not the AJ1 "Bred." Once the Jordan 1 reached the market as MJ's first signature sneaker, Nike quietly stopped production on the model until 2020. After being revived in OG specs with the "Banned" colorway, Jordan Brand took over the releases from Nike and retooled the model to feature the Jordan 1 sole unit, cushioning and all. As of this writing, we've seen around ten different colorways of the model in this retooled PE version hit shelves.
Now, we can confirm ten more colorways will be coming out all the way through Spring 2024, of which there will be collaborations with A Ma Maniere, Awake NY, and Corporate. There will also be a collaborative effort with Japanese brand Forget-me-nots on the "Rush Fuchsia" colorway. To celebrate the upcoming launch (which, as of this writing, has yet to seen), the Japanese label will host a workshop on September 24, 2023. As for other pairs, we can't confirm as of now whether or not they will be inline release from Jordan Brand or feature a collaborative partner.
Across these ten releases, we have an array of color schemes and even have two women’s exclusive colorways. These two come to us in summit white/rush fuschia and a mystic navy/bold berry/sail combination. While most releases thus far have stuck to the two-tone color-blocking, most of the upcoming Air Ship colorways will feature a wider variety of shades.
The upcoming Jordan Air Ship SP PE colorways are listed below and will retail for $140 or $150, depending on the colorway. Keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
