Reaching the pinnacle of NBA stardom comes with many perks, and a signature silhouette from a major brand like Jordan is one that only a select few can achieve. For Jayson Tatum, his loyalty to Jordan Brand and the label's love back over the years with PEs has led the Celtics star to finally receive his own signature sneaker - the Jordan Tatum 1 - which has just officially been unveiled by the brand.
While we previously reported on the news that Tatum would be receiving his own signature silhouette, all four of the launch colorways have received official looks alongside tech specs for the sneaker. For its design, the next generation of athletes was the inspiration and in so made the silhouette the lightest weight model across Jordan Brand’s lineup of performance sneakers. For its upper, a lightweight, strong TPU frame helps reinforce the mesh upper utilized on the sneaker while its cushioning system features an uncaged Zoom Air bag in the forefoot for high energy return. Also included in the cushioning system is a ground-contact foam that acts as an integrated traction pattern alongside the minimal use of rubber on the toe and ball of the foot.
For the kids’ design, Tatum looked to make his sneaker easy to take off and on. To achieve this Jordan Brand integrated an injected TPU tailgate system while also changing the tooling to make the sneaker more comfortable for kids. This includes removing the Zoom Air bag and adding zonal rubber to the outsole with a deeply grooved traction pattern for extra durability.
Speaking on his first signature sneaker with Jordan Brand, Tatum stated, “I remember being a kid, walking into the store, and looking for the signature shoes of my favorite players. The moment I saw the shoe or put the shoe on, I felt like I was in sync and closer to them in a way. So, I want this shoe to be a bridge between my fans and me to bring us closer together.”
The Jordan Tatum 1 in its four launch colorways, the “Zoo,” “Barbershop,” “St. Louis,” and “Pink Lemonade,” will debut throughout the coming months with the former of the four colorways releasing on April 7th, 2023 in full-family sizing. Men’s pairs will retail for a cool $120 while kids’ pairs will retail for $90 (GS), $75 (PS), and $55 (TD).
