As we enter 2023, we’re all waiting to see what footwear labels have to offer us in terms of innovation. We should see some exciting technological advancements across the industry as we’re still waiting for Nike ISPA's follow-up to the Link silhouette, the Axis Link, which will push the boundaries for sustainability in the sneaker world, however, Jordan Brand appears to be attempting a revitalization of their casual lineup while also remaining sustainable. Taking on a very similar design to both the Yeezy Slide and the recently revealed Jordan Hex Slide, JB is turning the latter of the two into a Mule silhouette.
Coming almost identical to the Jordan Hex Slide, the silhouette takes on a hexagonal design with a squared-off toe and heel alongside protrusions on the lateral and medial forefoot. One of the only visible design differences between the two silhouettes is the fact the toe portion is covered up, obviously giving it the construction of a traditional mule. For its one-piece construction, Jordan Brand opts for a sugarcane-based Bio Foam that offers both comfort and sustainability for the model. Branding details remain minimal as the footbed comes debossed with a Jumpman logo and “23” text while the lateral forefoot protrusion also gets a debossed Jumpman. Underfoot, the outsole comes with a Herringbone-inspired traction pattern and flex grooves to provide comfort and versatility in multiple environments.
The Jordan Hex Mule is set to launch in Spring 2023 with a collaboration courtesy of Billie Eilish and an unknown partner while we get our first taste of inline releases over Summer 2023. For these launch colorways, expect to see a “Black” look from Billie, “Light Silver” for the second SP release, “University Red” for the third SP, and “Celestial Gold,” “Sea Coral,” “Ozone Blue,” and “Brilliant Orange” for the inline releases. Retailing for $65, the sneaker will be available exclusively in women’s sizing.
