Keisei Tominaga has officially signed a multi-year partnership with Curry Brand, becoming its first international athlete. Tominaga, who played as a senior guard for the University of Nebraska men’s basketball team, earned second-team All-Big Ten honors and led his team with an average of over 15 points per game. He also won this year’s college 3-Point Championship contest, solidifying his reputation as one of the most electrifying sharpshooters in the league.
Tominaga's basketball journey began in Japan, where he became a standout high school player, averaging an impressive 39.8 points per game during his senior year. His connection to Curry Brand President Stephen Curry dates back over five years, from when Tominaga was invited to the 2018 Under Armour Basketball Tour in Tokyo. This early meeting planted the seeds for his future association with Curry Brand, with Tominaga modeling his game after Curry’s style, earning him the nickname “Japanese Steph Curry.”
“It is an incredible honor to join Curry Brand and be among its elite roster of athletes. Steph has always been one of my basketball heroes, and I have worked hard to emulate his game in my own basketball career, so to be able to represent his brand and everything he stands for is a dream come true,” said Tominaga.
Stephen Curry expressed his excitement about Tominaga’s signing, highlighting the alignment of their missions and the growth potential. “We are excited to have Keisei join the Curry Brand family as we continue to extend our mission internationally. He has a dedication to the game and continues to be an inspiration for athletes across the globe. I love that we are growing this amazing roster of Curry Brand athletes, and Keisei, along with our other athletes, are continuing to create an impact and changing the game of basketball,” said Curry.
Tominaga's move to the United States in 2019 marked the next significant chapter in his career. He first played at Ranger College, a junior college in Texas, where he helped the program achieve 50 wins over two years and ranked ninth nationally in 3-point shooting percentage as a sophomore. He then transferred to the University of Nebraska, where he excelled, ranking seventh in the program’s history with 178 career 3-pointers. His remarkable performance at the NCAA Final Four 3-Point Championship in April 2024 further showcased his sharpshooting skills on a national stage.
Ryan Drew, GM of Curry Brand, emphasized Tominaga's fit within the brand. “Keisei fits the DNA of a Curry Brand athlete. He’s an extremely talented shooter and scorer who plays with that distinct style and joy we see in our other athletes, all while proving to be a fierce competitor on the court. We are thrilled to have him join our team and help us grow Curry Brand in Japan and beyond as our first international athlete,” said Drew.
As part of Curry Brand, Tominaga will not only wear their footwear and apparel on the court but also serve as a brand ambassador, helping to expand Curry Brand’s reach globally. Off the court, Tominaga and Curry Brand will collaborate on community impact initiatives to allow young athletes to pursue their dreams.
Tominaga joins an elite group of athletes under Curry Brand, including Stephen Curry, De’Aaron Fox, and MiLaysia Fulwiley. His signing marks a significant milestone for Curry Brand as it continues to grow its influence and impact in basketball.
