As the fashion and sneaker industries continue to evolve, specific collaborations have consistently drawn attention, and Ronnie Fieg's collaborative endeavors with major brands like New Balance stand out prominently. His imprint, Kith, has been pivotal in redefining streetwear, often fusing it with high-fashion elements. In a recent interview with Footwear News, while the conversation spanned several fascinating topics, all eyes were fixated on the footwear choice of Fieg: an unrevealed Kith x New Balance collaboration on the 990v6, drawing inspiration from the iconic Madison Square Garden and the New York Knicks.
Kith’s take on the New Balance 990v6 gets draped in subdued shades of grey and tan, beautifully marrying the luxurious texture of pigskin suede with the mesh base. Adding a pop of color that brings the design to life is the striking orange "N" logo on its side and the “NB” emblem on the vamp. Given Fieg's appointment as the Creative Director of the Knicks, it only makes sense he would pay homage to the famed New York NBA team and the iconic venue they call home. The shoe's design is seamlessly rounded off by a tonal cream FuelCell midsole and a matching rubber outsole.
Alongside this Sandrift colorway, a Black rendition will also hit shelves. This pair features the same premium material makeup and comes with vibrant red and blue accents on the "N" logo, tongue tag, and heel. Silver hits come placed on the toe box while the final accenting colors come on the FuelCell-cushioned midsole as it gets a white finish.
The Kith x New Balance 990v6 Made in USA MSG Pack will release November 6, 2023 exclusively via Kith online and in-store. The Sandrift colorway will launch via New Balance on November 16, 2023. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $220.
