Gorpcore took off in 2022 with the outdoor-ready, utilitarian, and technical aspects of fashion being heavily favored in streetwear and the mainstream with the likes of Arc’Teryx and Salomon acting as the gateway into this realm. While Arc’Teryx has leaned into streetwear for some time, Salomon is just dipping its toes in the water with collabs coming from Carhartt WIP, Maison Margiela, and Kar L’Art de L’Automobile being highlights for the French-based mountaineering brand, however, they’re now linking with one of the top collaborators in the space - Kith - on a Gore-Tex-covered XT-6.
Getting covered in icy blue hues and snowy whites, Kith truly reaches the peaks both literally and figuratively through the aforementioned color palette and via the mountain graphic adorning the spine of the tongue. Wrapping around the edges of the upper and sole unit is a white/black TPU film that helps reinforce the ripstop upper, featuring Gore-Tex and Salomon branding on the toe and heel respectively. More stark white shades land on the bungee Quicklace set while the top of the tongue hosts a co-branded Salomon and Kith logo. Internally, the sockliner borrows the icy blue shade found on the majority of the upper while the sole unit below completes the look with its blue/white combo on the midsole and black on the rubber outsole.
The Kith x Salomon Gore-Tex XT-6 Collection is set to release in the coming weeks exclusively through Kith online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
