While Ronnie Fieg is just dipping his toes into the sports world thanks to his new position as the Creative Director of the New York Knicks, the founder of the streetwear label and boutique Kith still makes time for his first passion - fashion. Labels have no questions when Fieg approaches the design table and one of his favorite partners, New Balance, is Ronnie and Kith the opportunity to dress a pack of popular NB silhouettes (the 993 and 2002R) in a “Pistachio” colorway.
Both models in this pack come in identical colorblocking, though they do differ when it comes to their material makeup. Starting with the 993, you may be having deja vu and confusing this pair with the recently released Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 993 “Performance Art” as the material makeup of mesh, nubuck, and pigskin suede definitely draws comparisons between the two. Just like the aforementioned JFG pair, the upper takes on a monochromatic shade of pistachio green while the mesh underlay, lace set, and lining around the “N” logo differ based on its weave and color respectively. Typical NB branding details can be seen throughout while Kith is nowhere to be found, though the label likely makes an appearance on the insole. Rounding out the look is the two-tone white midsole paired with a tonal cream-colored rubber outsole.
On the Kith x New Balance 2002R, the humble 2010s runner is elevated thanks to its all-over suede construction across its multi-layered panels. Just like the 993, the sneaker takes on a majority pistachio green shade while the embroidery around the “N” logo and lace set contrast thanks to their stark white appearance. Keeping in line with the pack as a whole, the upper forgoes any Kith branding and instead keeps the standard 2002R branding details atop the tongue, along the midfoot, and back on the heel. Rounding out the design is a white and tan midsole and tan rubber outsole.
The Kith x New Balance Pistachio Pack is set to release on Black Friday, November 23rd, 2022 exclusively through Kith online and in-store. Releasing in unisex sizing, the 993 will retail for $210 while the 2002R retails for $150.
