Nigo, the legendary Japanese fashion designer who founded BAPE, Human Made, and works for Kenzo as the brand’s creative director, constantly collaborates with various brands across the industry. Over the last decade Nigo has collaborated with just about every brand out there on projects ranging from footwear to apparel. However, there is one notable exception - Nike. According to Brendan Dunne from Complex, that is about to change. Nigo has reportedly signed just signed a deal with Nike.
For Nike, it's an interesting play to sign the man who designed the BAPE STA silhouette that they are currently suing BAPE for. That said, Nigo is no longer associated with the streetwear brand he founded in 1993 as he left the company in 2013. As a part of this Nike deal, we should expect to see a combination of Nigo's unique design aesthetic with Nike's technical expertise on various silhouettes and possibly apparel.
While no specific details about upcoming Nigo x Nike releases have been confirmed, it is likely that we won't see the anything from the collaboration until at least next year.
