When picking up a fresh pair of white-on-white Nike Air Force 1s many forget the history behind the silhouette. Originally, Bruce Kilgore’s design wasn’t an instant success with Nike shelving the model a few years into its production. Luckily, we can keep the basic history on us at all times with the latest Nike Air Force 1 Mid "Timeline" aka "Izakaya."
Blessing the classic silhouette with premium materials, the sneaker takes on creamy tones of coconut milk, shimmer, and ivory. Around the mudguard, eyestays, lockdown strap, and collar, sit a smooth shimmer-shaded leather, accenting the pale ivory canvas on the toebox, midfoot, tongue, and collar. Down on the vamp, a golden lace dubrae with “AF1 82” branding sits, as a set of pale ivory laces make their way up to the reworked tongue tag, a receipt with major dates in the AF1’s history, dating back to its original release in 1982. Working along the midfoot is a black canvas Nike Swoosh, running back to the Nike Air embroidery on the heel tab. More commemorative graphics come in the form of a star and Swoosh graphic and an animal couple holding a pair of AF1’s on the lateral heel of the left and right shoe respectively. Underfoot, the chunky AF1 midsole gets covered in a shade of coconut milk with the rubber outsole in shimmer completing the look.
The Nike Air Force 1 Mid Izakaya is slated to release on August 25th, 2022 in Japan. A worldwide release is set to follow on September 7th through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
