Nike's Air Max 1, a revolutionary sneaker that debuted the brand's first visible Air unit in 1987, has become an icon in the world of sneakers. Celebrated annually on March 26th, Air Max Day marks the anniversary of this groundbreaking release, turning into a global celebration for sneakerheads. Over the years, Nike has commemorated this day by releasing special colorways, retro classics, and innovative new models that push the boundaries of Air technology. In 2024, Nike is set to elevate the festivities with the release of the Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Air Max Day Royal, alongside the introduction of the Air Max DN and several Big Bubble versions, including a women's exclusive Royal and a museum-inspired colorway.
This special edition Air Max 1 '86 OG pays homage to the original Air Max Day release from 2014, featuring a vibrant volt sole unit that adds a modern twist to the classic design. The sneaker combines white mesh with grey suede overlays on the vamp, midfoot, and heel, creating a timeless, stylish, and comfortable look. The Royal Blue accents on the mudguard, Swoosh, and heel branding, along with the 3.26 text on the tongue tag, celebrate the heritage and innovation of the Air Max 1. The highlight of this release is the volt foam sole unit, which is equipped with the larger four-pillar Air unit identical to the original Air Max 1's design that was recalled due to QC issues.
The Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Air Max Day Royal will release on March 26, 2024, in celebration of Air Max Day, through Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
