While the Cortez marked its 50th Anniversary last year, its celebrations were somewhat overshadowed by the Air Force 1's birthday bash. With that said, Nike isn't ready to let this half-a-century milestone go unnoticed as it prepares a barrage of special releases for the next few months. With limited editions like the "Running Rabbit" and "SNKRS Day Korea" and exclusive collaborations from the likes of CLOT currently in the works, we're now taking a look at another coveted colorway in the form of the Nike Cortez "Velvet Brown" - and here's everything that we know so far.
Placing a laser-sharp focus on luxe materials, this Cortez is outfitted in nothing but the softest suede. Supple velvet brown panels elegantly wrap around the laterals and medials, while opulent baroque brown overlays embrace the toebox, lacing system, and back. Tumbled leather elements venture towards the Swoosh and heel, where "Nike" has been finely stamped in black. Intricately woven laces tie everything together, and underfoot, you'll spot the '70s model's world-renowned serrated midsole that hasn't changed much over the past five decades, finalizing the design.
The Nike Cortez Velvet Brown is set to release sometime in 2023 and will be available in men's sizes for a retail price that has yet TBA. Expected to drop at Nike and select online and in-store locations worldwide, make sure you follow Sole Retriever on Twitter and download ourMobile App for your best chance to cop!
