With its history deeply ingrained in basketball, the Nike Dunk made its transformation from the hardwood floors to the sidewalks and Instagram feeds of the world. Even still, The Swoosh pays tribute to the model's basketball ties through collegiate-themed colorways that mimic the original “Be True To Your School” campaign and through motifs added to the model you won’t find on most releases. Adding one more to the latter of the two, the Nike Dunk High “Hoops” is here.
At first glance, things appear to be standard for the Nike Dunk High with its all-over leather construction and an almost two-tone design coming in grey and white. Smooth grey leather makes up the overlays along the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay while the base layer comes in white tumbled leather. For the toebox and collar, nothing gets changed, however, along the quarter panel you’ll find a debossed graphic with “NIKE” text and a Swoosh-laden basketball. Sitting atop this, a red Nike Swoosh runs back towards the heel and meets the other half’s logo at the red leather pull tab. White-on-white shades land on the mesh tongue and lace set while the tongue tag and insole nearby come in a neon yellow hue. Rounding out the design is the white Dunk midsole paired with a grey rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk High Hoops is set to release in 2022 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBD.
