No one has questioned why The Swoosh continues to release new colorways of the Nike Dunk silhouette, whether that be in the Low or High variety. The model just continues to sell out on release day and gets scooped up the moment it restocks online and in-store, while still garnering premium prices on the secondary market. For 2022, this has held true but we’ll have to see how things fare in 2023 with a whole slew of colorways, like the “Light Bone Citron Pulse” and “Plaid,” planned for next year. Tack another release onto the list as images of the Nike Dunk High Tartan "Black University Red” have just appeared.
Just like the previously mentioned “Plaid” colorway, this high-top Dunk features a tartan pattern on its heel overlay, taking on shades of black, green, and red in the traditional Scottish design. As for the rest of the sneaker, university red shades land on the mudguard and eyestays, while the canvas underlay on the toebox, quarter panel, and collar come in a deep black hue. This same shade continues onto the tongue and lace set which gets disrupted by a “Bred” color combo on the Nike branded tongue tag. Along the midfoot, the Nike Swoosh receives a pale ivory makeover and reaches back to the black leather tab on the heel. Finishing the design is the sole unit that gets covered in pale ivory and features black accent stitching on the midsole.
The Nike Dunk High Tartan Black University Red is set to release in January 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $125.
