Ja Morant’s debut signature sneaker, the Nike Ja 1, is just over a week away from release. While Morant has been covered in controversy, likely leading to the release of his sneaker being pushed back a few weeks, we’ve got plenty of other renditions hitting shelves throughout the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter of 2023. Just days after we got our first looks at the “Light Smoke Grey” colorway, we have our first images of the GS-exclusive Nike Ja 1 “Summer Vibes."
Keeping its same construction, the Ja 1 retains its usual mixture of mesh, leather, and TPU throughout its design, with a colorful array of shades appearing on this colorway. White leather trims the mudguard and edge of the upper while we see a light blue mesh land on the toebox and midfoot. Leather panels near the forefoot wrap up to the TPU eyestays, and get dressed in a white, yellow, green, and blue camo pattern. Green makes its way to the lace set and portions of the tongue tag that comes mismatched between the two pairs. Around this area, we find more hits of blue on the tongue and sockliner, while the heel tab and heel overlay come in aqua green and blue, respectively. Rounding out the upper of Ja Morant's sneaker is yellow Swoosh branding. Underfoot, a white foam midsole receives a blue speckle paint finish, while the rubber outsole below gets a multi-color camo print.
The Nike Ja 1 Summer Vibes GS will be released online and in-store on May 8th, 2023, through Nike and select retailers. Releasing exclusively in grade school sizing, the retail price is set at $90.
