Kevin Durant’s history with Nike runs deep as the superstar forward has been under the Nike banner for nearly two decades now. His sneakers often tie into his personal life, one of the most iconic bein “Aunt Pearl” releases. Nodding to his late-Aunt Pearl who fought a battle with cancer, the KD 4 and onward would feature at least one release of this all-pink colorway, however, Nike and Durant are bringing out the Nike KD 3 in the “Aunt Pearl” colorway.
Like every other “Aunt Pearl” release, the KD 3's Flywire, leather, and mesh construction come covered in tonal shades of pink across the toebox, midfoot panel, and heel. Along the mesh tongue and lace set sits a similar pink hue while the weaved material along the midfoot also borrows this shade. Accenting this is a white Nike Swoosh that runs back towards the heel and its KD branded logo in pink. On the heel, a nod to Aunt Pearl as well as basketball coach Kay Yow is present. Yow, who fought multiple battles with cancer, has a non-profit organization named after her with many of the past "Aunt Pearl" pairs helping support the foundation. The foundations logo is also present on the left sneaker's tongue. Bright pink along the sockliner completes the upper while the midsole comes in a two-tone pink and clear build paired with a pink rubber outsole.
The Nike KD 3 Aunt Pearl will release on October 27, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
