Nike is constantly innovating for every athlete's need and offers an array of technologies to help the human body. For its latest proprietary material technology, The Swoosh is helping ladies with period leaks through Leak Protection: Period, an ultrathin, absorbent liner that helps protect against period leaks.
Focused on adding extra protection that can be worn while using a tampon, pad, or cup, Nike’s designers combined a two-layer laminate gusset and liner that absorbs, wicks, and holds blood with a membrane that acts as an anti-leakage barrier. The first product with this technology will come on the Nike One Short silhouette, which features its typical Dri-FIT construction on top of Nike’s Leak Protection: Period material.
A key player in the innovation of this technology, Lisa Gibson, a Senior Project Manager for Nike Apparel Innovation, stated, “Fear of bleed-through is real — and not just through the teen years, but through the entire journey of menstruation. Nike Leak Protection: Period is for people with periods across all life stages, designed to give them an added layer of confidence so they can feel secure during all forms of sport and movement. It's an innovation that we believe will change people's lives."
Expect more products outside the Nike One Short to feature the new Nike Leak Protection: Period technology in the coming months.
