Nike is launching a special colorway of the ZoomX VaporFly 3 NEXT% in tribute to Eliud Kipchoge and his first major accomplishment in the world racing scene 20 years ago.
The Kenyan long-distance runner and Olympic gold medalist has broken a number of records while wearing Nike over the years, and this pair of shoes honors his record-breaking 5K win at the 2003 IAAF World Championships in Athletics. During that race, he wore a distinctive Nike Zoom Miler in white and red, and that color scheme is now applied to the ZoomX VaporFly 3 NEXT%.
Most of the sneaker boasts a pristine white color, complemented by a dynamic red stripe at midfoot. Branding details on the upper, including the Swoosh logos and VaporFly text, are rendered in black. The right insole carries a graphic calling outKipchoge's record-setting time in the 5K. Meanwhile, the left pair's insole hosts a quote from the Kenyan runner reminding us of his dedication and resilience. Nike’s final nod to the runner can be seen on the medial side of the sole unit, proudly showcasing his signature.
The Nike ZoomX VaporFly 3 NEXT% Eliud Kipchoge will release August 24th through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
