The pinnacle of a signature basketball sneaker is often thought to be exclusively over at team Nike, whether that be with The Swoosh or Jordan Brand. The Ball family, led by Lavar Ball, often try their own approach, initially making all three of his sons their own line of sneakers with the Big Baller Brand. After the line failed to take off, the brothers went their own ways with LaMelo becoming the rising star of the bunch. Continuing to stand out from the crowd, Melo chose to align himself with Puma, and has seen tons of success after the launch of his MB.01 silhouette. Now the Charlotte Hornets star has a simple red and white look on the horizon with the Puma MB.01 Low Team Colors "Red."
Lowering the cut of the standard MB.01, this low-top variant does not compromise on its innovative tech and superior traction, keeping the same material makeup as a normal pair. A monochromatic white look takes over the breathable mono-mesh upper with wavy plastic fused overlays taking on a red hit near the eyestays and vamp, adding to the lockdown and structure of the hoop-ready sneaker. A white-on-white tongue and lace combo are present with the phoenix logo plastered on the center of the tongue and the “1 of 1” graphic on the tongue tag all taking on a red shade to stand out from the colorless build. Complimenting the black sockliner is the insole and its galaxy graphic, complete with Puma and LaMelo Ball co-branding to match. Finishing the look is the NITRO foam midsole that keeps the monochromatic look paired with a matching rubber outsole, featuring enhanced traction pattern and durability the model has become beloved for.
The Puma MB.01 Low Team Colors Red is slated to release on July 13th, 2022 through Puma and select Puma retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
