While Drake is now signed to Nike and has his sub-label with the company NOCTA, his OG venture into the sneaker industry saw the Canadian superstar get an array of exclusive Air Jordan sneakers. Well over 20 different OVO Air Jordans, including samples, 1-of-1s, and pairs released to the public, were made before Drizzy went to Nike, but even years past his transition, unseen samples are seeing the light of day. Now, after getting a look at an OVO x Air Jordan 18 back in 2024, the start of the new year brings us a first look at two Drake x Air Jordan 9 Retro OVO colorways.
Keeping in line with the Air Jordan 10 OVOs that hit shelves in 2015, the Jordan 9s also come in a White and a Black colorway. Both pairs are coated primarily in the titular hue, accented by pops of gold on the October's Very Own tongue label and the Jordan globe logo on the heel. In a nod to the record label and fashion brand, the insole features the OVO owl logo in gold. While the White color comes entirely made of leather, including textured leather on the heel and collar, the black pair sees a nubuck material used on the mudguard, heel, and collar.

Standard features from the Jordan 9 remain untouched, including the embroidered 23 on the heel, the pull-tab, and the embroidered paneling along the midfoot. Down below, both pairs come with a tonal midsole, the white pair featuring a gold Jumpman near the heel and the black pair sticking to the darker tones for the logo. Finishing the design is the clear rubber outsole containing OVO branding in gold near the forefoot and a Jumpman logo near the heel.
With Drake and Nike’s relationship cemented through the NOCTA label and these looksee samples being 1-of-1s, the likelihood of a Drake x Jordan 9 is slim to none.
