At the beginning of 2020, everyone’s world was shaken when Covid-19 caused many sectors of the world to shutter their windows with many uncertain when things could - or ever - return to normal. Students that were used to attending school in person were forced to take classes online from their homes, however, students from Charlotte Lab School were given an opportunity of a lifetime through a series of virtual programs hosted by The Whitaker Group and Asics that taught them design, marketing, branding, merchandising, sales, and more. All of this culminated in the upcoming Social Status x Charlotte Lab School x Asics Gel-Lyte V “Eternal Summer” Pack.
The students from CLS were involved in every aspect of the launch of the two colorways (Grey and Yellow) from the campaign to the design process and were inspired by the nostalgic feeling of summer break. This is translated on the Grey pair through its use of cloud white shades along the underlay and blue accents throughout - recreating the feeling of a perfect summer day. On the Yellow pair, creamy shades take over the front and rear of the model with hairy suede landing on the mudguard and heel while leather and mesh accents both of these. Providing pop are sunny shades of orange and yellow that appear on the quarter panel, eyestays, collar, and sockliner. Underfoot the sole unit matches the primary color of each sneaker while the outsole below comes in a tri-tone finish borrowing from the colors of the upper.
The Social Status x Charlotte Lab School x Asics Gel-Lyte V Eternal Summer Pack is set to release on December 17th through Social Status and other Whitaker Group stores (like A Ma Maniere and APB) online. Releasing in unisex sizing, the pairs will retail for $140 with each color limited to 1,500 numbered pairs.
