LaMelo Ball’s signature sneaker line with Puma, now onto the fourth model, the MB.04, has been no stranger to collaborations. The most notable collaborations have been with cartoons like Scooby-Doo and Rick & Morty, playing off LaMelo’s youth and the shows he enjoys. Adding to the model’s lineage, the Puma MB.04 has appeared in two collaborative colorways with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Instagram account stepback.kicks first reported news of this collab.
While TMNT worked with adidas on three Superstars, one for Shredder, another for Master Splinter, and finally, a pair inspired by the four turtles, this Puma project sees the four turtles represented on two shoes. Each pair comes split, with the left and right shoe featuring a color scheme and details associated with Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. One pair features Donatello on the left shoe and Raphael on the right, while the other comes with Michelangelo on the left and Leonardo on the right.
The turtle’s bandana colors are represented on the base layer and sole unit of their pairs, while the 5D alien tentacle-inspired TPU overlays all come in green hues. On the midfoot, the usual Puma formstrip logo is replaced with the bandana, working back towards the co-branded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and LaMelo heel tab. Here, the weapon of choice for each turtle is represented, with other nods to the turtle’s found on the tongue. Initials for the names of each turtle are placed on the pull tab on the tongue, and the eyes of each turtle are located just below. The Nitro Foam-cushioned midsole finishes the design with a tonal shade that matches the upper and a green rubber outsole.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Puma MB.04 Collection will be released sometime in the coming months through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
