The city of Hong Kong is a special case when it comes to its culture as Eastern and Western influences have taken over the city's DNA throughout its deep history. Helping bring this clash of cultures to the rest of the world, the skate shop VICTORIA consistently brings designs and collaborations that showcase the city’s unique cultural influences. For their latest link-up, California’s own Vans has given VICTORIA their very own Half Cab that gives us a peek into the urban sprawl of Hong Kong.
Keeping things simple in terms of its color palette, the iconic Half Cab gets covered in black suede along its toebox, mudguard, vamp, eyestays, and heel while the quarter panel and collar get dressed in a white graphic representing the roots of the native banyan tree. Branding details atop the tongue and along the lateral midfoot stay standard to a typical half cab with the labels coming in a brownish-orange while the medial side features VICTORIA’s logo and name. Further details like the brand’s name debossed on the heel and printed on the insole further this collaborative effort while the sneaker's entire design is rounded out by a black rubber midsole and orange rubber outsole.
The VICTORIA x Vans Skate Half Cab is set to release exclusively through Vans Hong Kong and VICTORIA itself on November 12th, 2022. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
