Aime Leon Dore has cemented its place as a crucial partner for New Balance, revitalizing the brand's archival silhouettes with modern flair. Over the past four years, ALD and New Balance collaborations have led to successful revivals of classic models. The latest project between these two powerhouses is the New Balance 1000, a sneaker initially introduced in 1999. This silhouette, which had fallen out of the spotlight, has found new life thanks to collaborations with designers like Joe Freshgoods and a series of inline colorways coming out later this year. Following up on previews of the Black and Cream iterations of the ALD x New Balance 1000, ALD's founder, Teddy Santis, has shown an image of a new Grey variant.
Like the other pairs in the pack, the Aime Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 Grey showcases a monochromatic makeover with various panels adorned in shades of grey. Lighter grey hues cover the mudguard and the upper part of the midfoot, creating a subtle contrast. A semi-translucent panel runs along the bottom half of the upper, adding a modern touch to the classic design. This same material is used for the iconic N logo on the midfoot, while the rest of the branding features grey tones. ALD’s influence is evident with branding on the lateral toe, tongue, insole, and heel, while New Balance finds its place in similar spots. The look is completed with a tonal grey foam midsole and a black rubber outsole, providing both style and functionality.
The Aime Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 Grey will release on June 5th, 2024, via ALD's website. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165. Keep it locked to the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
