With the gorpcore trend still having a grip on the fashion industry, Salomon continues to become more and more of a household name to sneakerheads used to looking out for the latest Jordans or Yeezys. Now, we see trail-ready and Gore-Tex-covered silhouettes on our social media feeds, and what better way to continue your presence in this space than to collaborate with others? Continuing its journey in this space, Salomon and Japanese-based retailer atmos are working together on a collaborative sneaker.
Inspired by stardust generated when two stars collide, the technically-focused XT-6 receives a dark-toned makeover. Forgoing the usual Gore-Tex covering, Salomon and atmos still utilize the silhouette's engineered mesh, TPU, and nylon construction with space-like white, grey, and black throughout its design. Around the TPU overlays on the toe, heel, and midfoot sits a star graphic while we see silverish-white appear on the triangular-shaped overlays near the eyestays. This shade continues on the toe and heel, where we find Salomon's branding details. Sitting just below the silver bungee cord lacing is the co-branded atmos and Salomon logo, with a solo "S" logo making its mark atop the tongue. Underfoot, the usual Agile Chasis System found on many Salomon models receives a silvery-grey makeover. Adding to the star theme is the black foam midsole with speckled paint details in white. Rounding everything out is the black rubber outsole ready for the outdoors.
The atmos x Salmon XT-6 Stars Collide is set to release on April 8th, 2023 through atmos Japan online and in-store. On top of a raffle hosted on atmos Toyko's website from April 1st to April 7th, 2023, atmos' Shinjuku storefront will be hosting a pop-up in collaboration with Salomon that showcases the celestial themes of the sneaker from April 3rd to April 9th. A wider global release for the collaboration will take place in the coming weeks. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
