Nearly 20 years since the highly coveted eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low hit the eBay platform and sold for $30,000, the duo has come back together to recreate the iconic sample pair that was cut into four pieces and make them much more available than the OG 1/1. Leading up to the official release through SNKRS and skate shops, eBay announced a special charity auction featuring 10 special box pairs that included a pair of the GR release, a pair with one pair cut in four pieces, and a commemorative saw all housed within a skateable crate. Now that the auction has ended, eBay and Nike SB have generated nearly $400k for the Sandy Bodecker Foundation.
The exact figures between the 10 pairs come out to $386,606 with the most expensive coming in at $42,800. This comes out to more than 10x the amount raised for charity during the original release and will help underprivileged youth in various creative endeavors including songwriting, audio engineering, game design, sneaker designs, and more.
Hopefully, in the future, we see Nike and other labels come together for a greater cause although we do often see retailers run raffles through donation drives that benefit the local communities they serve.
