Along with the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Fire Red,” AJ 6 “Midnight Navy,” and AJ 7 “Citrus,” Jordan Brand is also set to bring back the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Green Bean” in 2022. Originally released in September 2006, the “Green Bean” was the first AJ 5 to feature a fully 3M reflective upper. It was so unique at the time that only the men’s pairs featured the look; all kids' versions sported a nubuck upper instead. There was even a time where Jordan Brand contemplated doing away with the 3M upper on men’s pairs altogether. Thankfully for all of us, that wasn’t the case.
Currently penciled in for an early May release, the 2022 version of the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Green Bean” keeps things true to the OG. Coming in silver, green bean and flint grey, they feature a full 3M reflective upper and tongue. Green Bean accents the branding throughout, flame on the midsole, lining and lace locks. Flint Grey detailing along with translucent mesh netting rounds things out on the upper. Icy blue translucent hits on the outsole replace the clear ones found on the 2006 release, which should help to slow down the yellowing process.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro Green Bean is set to release on May 28th, 2022. It will launch at Nike as well as select Jordan Brand retailers both in-store and online. They will be available in full-family sizing from men down to toddler. Men’s pairs will retail for $200.
