Jordan Brand Remembers Michael Jordan’s Playground on This Retro T-Shirt
Published
In 1990, Michael Jordan starred in a direct-to-video film dubbed Michael Jordan’s Playground, which was the directorial debut of Zack Snyder (famous for movies like 300 and Batman vs. Superman), telling the story of a teenager named Walt, who was cut from his basketball team. MJ teaches Walt on a magical playground with a group of children, with the film cutting between real NBA highlights of MJ and him, offering words of wisdom to the group. While not financially or critically successful, the film produced an iconic photo of Jordan dunking among a group of kids, which appeared on a t-shirt from Jordan Brand.
The photo has appeared on t-shirts, with Jordan Brand last producing the photo tee in 2005. Though not visible in the shot, MJ is rocking the Air Jordan 5 Black Metallic, which recently returned in Reimagined form. The rest of the tee features the wall and graffiti found in the photo's background, extending across the shirt.

Of course, with 2025 being the 40th Anniversary of the Air Jordan 1 and thus the start of the legendary Air Jordan lineage, this year is full of nostalgic comebacks, the shirt being the latest. Jordan Brand has also leaned into these vintage photos and retro designs for various releases over the first few months of the year. On top of this, we can expect to see more Air Jordan retros of OG and fan favorites, including the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG UNC Reimagined, Air Jordan 5 Retro Fire Red Black Tongue, Undefeated x Air Jordan 4, and the Air Jordan 3 Retro Pure Money.
The Michael Jordan Playground T-Shirt will release in Summer 2025 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store for $65.
