MSCHF has gained a reputation for its avant-garde, art-turned-footwear releases, consistently pushing the boundaries of fashion and social experimentation. Known for creations like the infamous Big Red Boot and their playful take on Vans and AF1 knock-offs, the brand's latest offering distorts the concept of pool slides into a fashion-forward statement with the Flipped Flop Heel.
The Flipped Flop Heel takes inspiration from traditional pool slides but with a surreal twist. Similar to MSCHF's previous backward shoe, the Flipped Flop features two straps that make the footwear appear that it can be worn both ways. However, the top strap is functional and secures your ankle in place while wearing the 4.5" heels. Both straps prominently display MSCHF branding. The "footbed" of the slides warps into an S shape, transitioning seamlessly into the portion where you slide your foot. This unique design is coated in navy blue, with white accents on the MSCHF branding details. The outsole also features additional MSCHF branding, ensuring the brand's presence is unmistakable.
The marketing campaign for the Flipped Flop Heel is just as inventive as the product itself. MSCHF enlisted Bobbi Althoff to model the footwear, with the campaign's aesthetic centered around performance sports and hotels. The campaign cleverly mimics the look and feel of an early 2000s website, with the branding appearing like a play on the Marriot logo.
The MSCHF Flipped Flop will release on July 30, 2024, exclusively through MSCHF online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $450. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
