Hiking Vibes Appear On Three New Balance 2002R Colorways
PublishedWhile New Balance has continued to elevate the New Balance 2002R with their long standing collaborators, such as atmos and JFG, the Boston-based brand is looking to put out their own remixed version of the early-2010’s runner. Coming in three outdoor friendly colorways and hiking-ready upgrades is the New Balance 2002R “Hiking” Pack.
To transform the silhouette into a hiking-ready sneaker, New Balance chooses to use thicker suede overlays on the light tan and brown colorways while the all-black look opts for leather. A “Toe Protect” overlay and perforated toebox replacing the usual mesh adds durability to the normally breathable sneaker. Along the eyestays, metal eyelets and hiking-style laces give off hiking boot vibes. Branding remains standard with the “N” logo on the midfoot coming in an accenting lavender, black, and grey across the tan, brown, and black colorways respectively.
The “NB” logo finds itself on the tongue, insole, and heel tab. More accenting colors come along the collar, providing pop amongst the earth-tone colorways. Underfoot, the Abzorb cushioned midsole comes in a cream shade on the tan pair and black on the other two colorways. All three pairs are finished off by a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 2002R Hiking Pack is set to release in 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
