New Balance as a whole has seen a massive resurgence in popularity that can be attributed to its collaborative efforts with Aime Leon Dore and its relatively easily attainable GR colorways. After recently getting looks at two new colorways of the New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack,” we see the Boston footwear brand expand on one of the most popular GR silhouettes with three upcoming offerings in “Vintage Orange,” "Pink," and "Purple."
The upcoming pairs all feature the same design as the original release, which according to designer Yue Wu, is a “wearable relic” that has been “eroded.” This is achieved through its leather overlays appearing roughly cut along the mudguard, eyelet, midfoot panel, and heel. Its mesh base remains true to the standard 2002R model by providing breathability and comfort when on foot. Your usual New Balance N logo makes its way on the midfoot. Rounding out the entire look is the white NERGY cushioned midsole and the worn-in-looking black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 2002R Protection Pack in Vintage Orange, Pink, and Purple are set to release worldwide in the spring/summer of 2022 with EU retailers such as AFEW releasing the Vintage Orange colorway on April 1st, 2022. Coming in men's sizing, the pairs will retail for $150.
