New Balance's 99X series has been a staple in the brand's lineup, known for its high-quality craftsmanship and timeless design. Traditionally favoring muted, neutral hues, the series has long been celebrated for its classic grey colorways. However, New Balance is ready to shake things up after the ongoing Grey Days celebration. Teddy Santis, the creative force behind Aime Leon Dore and the head of New Balance's Made in USA line, introduces a bold look to the New Balance 990v4 with the Hi-Res colorway from his Season 5 collection.
The New Balance 990v4 Made in USA Hi-Res is a vivid departure from the brand's usual palette, featuring an electrifying mix of colors and premium materials. The upper showcases a combination of pigskin suede, mesh, and nubuck, with the pigskin suede on the mudguard, midfoot, eyestays, and heel dressed in a striking hi-res volt hue. Aqua Green overlays adorn the toe and the lining of the pigskin suede overlays on the midfoot, providing a refreshing contrast against the white mesh base. This vibrant theme continues on the tongue tag, proudly displaying Made in USA branding and 990v4 text in hi-res volt.
Typical New Balance branding elements remain, ensuring the sneaker's heritage is unmistakable. The N logo on the midfoot is black, while the 990 text appears silver on the lateral heel. Another Made in USA tag is prominently featured on the heel. Underfoot, a cream foam midsole offers superior cushioning and comfort, paired with a durable black rubber outsole for traction and support.
The New Balance 990v4 Made in USA Hi-Res will release June 7, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $210.
