Nike has offered its Air Max line for decades now and ever since its inception in 1986 the series has become a major success, helping propel The Swoosh forward in both the running and lifestyle categories. Nowadays, retro silhouettes are looked at primarily as lifestyle sneakers, and thanks to this, come constructed with various materials with “premium” renditions hitting the scene regularly. Adding to this list of premium-built Air Max sneakers, the Nike Air Max 1 has just appeared in a “Baltic Blue” colorway with corduroy panels.
Completely forgoing the typical mesh, suede, or leather build, premium corduroy takes over the entire upper, tongue, and Swoosh details included. This material takes on a monochromatic shade Nike dubs “Baltic Blue” throughout most of the sneaker while accenting hits of sesame appear on the Air Max-branded tongue tag and on the aforementioned Swoosh along the midfoot. Darker hues add even more contrast near the TPU eyestays and along the sockliner while the “Nike Air” embroidered into the heel also borrows this darker shade. Underfoot sits the iconic Air Max 1 midsole in a creamy sail shade, featuring an exposed Air unit in the heel. Rounding out the entire design is the black rubber outsole below.
The Nike Air Max 1 Premium Corduroy Baltic Blue is set to release on March 17th, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
