Video games and sneakers have long been intertwined, with iconic footwear often celebrating beloved gaming franchises and characters. Nike has been at the forefront of this trend, creating memorable collaborations that resonate with sneakerheads and gamers. One of the most legendary partnerships in this realm is the PlayStation x Nike collaboration, which first came to life in the mid-2000s. The partnership produced several sample versions of the Air Force 1 Low, with the patent leather edition being the most popular. This version, limited to just 150 pairs, became particularly famous due to its association with NBA legend Kobe Bryant and its ultra-limited run. According to Nice Kicks, the pair is returning in 2025.
Over the years, PlayStation x Nike releases have remained rare and highly sought after, with pairs like the 1-of-24 Travis Scott x PlayStation x Nike Dunk Lows and the 2009 promo sample of the PlayStation AF1s. We’ve even seen a more available PlayStation Air Force in the form of a 2018 release limited to Los Angeles and the Nike SNKRS app.
Details of the potential 2025 re-release remain under wraps. It's unclear whether the upcoming version will feature the patent leather and smooth leather of the original limited edition or opt for a more understated premium leather look, similar to other samples from the collaboration. It's also possible to see the pair stick to the build of the 2009 promo sample, which features patent leather on the entire sneaker. However, fans can anticipate the return of the classic black, blue, purple, and red color palette, complete with the iconic PlayStation logo embroidered on the lateral heel.
The PlayStation x Nike Air Force 1 Low is rumored to release in 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
