Ronnie Fieg’s ongoing partnership with Asics has produced some of the most coveted collaborations in the sneaker world, and the streak continues with a new Gel-Kayano 12.1 colorway set to drop this fall. Kith and Asics have a long-standing history, with Fieg having over 100 releases that reimagine classic silhouettes through fresh color palettes and updated designs. Earlier this year, the Gel-Kayano 12.1 debuted with a Kith collaboration in Cream and Orange Blue colorways. The partnership returns with a clean and crisp Ice Blue edition and a new Gel-Nimbus 10.1.
The Kith x Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 Ice Blue features a lightweight and breathable wide-space mesh base in white, offering optimal airflow and comfort. Semi-transparent icy blue panels wrap around the toe, midfoot, eyestays, and heel, adding a frosty touch contrasting with the clean white laces and upper. The tongue sees a blend of metallic silver and icy blue hues, while Gel-Kayano 12.1 branding appears on the lateral heel above an embroidered Asics logo. Although the upper retains the design language of the original Gel-Kayano 12, the sole unit receives a modern upgrade with a mixture of FluidRide, Gel, and soft foam cushioning technologies. The midsole features a blend of icy blue, cream, and deep green tones, all paired with a black rubber outsole to provide traction and durability.
Alongside the Gel-Kayano 12.1, Fieg teased a Gel-Nimbus 10.1. Tonal tan, grey, and silver hues cover the sneaker, with the mesh base coming in a cream finish. TPU film makes up the Asics tiger stripe on the midfoot, which itself rests above a different mesh panel in green that features a warped grid pattern. Metallic silver overlays hit the toebox, portions of the medial side, and the spine of the tongue. While Asics branding remains unchanged on the upper, Kith has its logo placed on the insole alongside Gel-Nimbus 10.1 branding. Finishing the design is the grey foam midsole with Gel cushioning throughout paired with a tonal outsole.
The Kith x Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 Ice Blue and Kith x Asics Gel-Nimbus 10.1 will release October 21, 2024, exclusively through Kith online and in-store. Early access will go out to Vitality tier members of Kith's Loyalty Program at 1 PM ET on October 18, 2024. A raffle for the general public will go live on the 18th. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180 for the Gel-Nimbus 10.1 and $195 for the Gel-Kayano 12.1.
