Going back to 2020, STAUD, the LA-based fashion house, and Boston’s very own New Balance came together to blend the two brand’s styles into a 24-piece collection ranging from bags, activewear, and of course sneakers. Since then, three more collaborative projects have been released with their fourth on the horizon. Coming to us shortly is a two-pack of STAUD x New Balance XC-72 colorways.
Coming in a crisp all-white colorway and a multi-color mix ready for the surf scene in SoCal, both pairs get the same construction of suede, mesh, leather, and nylon. Around the toe, a suede overlay runs to meet both the enlarged N branding across the midfoot and the suede eyestays just above the toebox. White-on-white laces work up to the co-branded NB and STAUD tongue tag. Located nearby is the nylon underlay, running back towards the heel and its suede overlay featuring STAUD text embossed on the heel tab. More co-branding comes courtesy of the insoles graphic, borrowing the same style as the tongue tag. Rounding out the look is the white midsole and exaggerated traction pattern on the rubber outsole with the multi-color pair taking on a split mismatched white and gum color.
Both pairs of the STAUD x New Balance XC-72 are slated to release on July 21st, 2022 through New Balance, STAUD, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
