The Los Angeles Police Department has recovered a staggering $7 million worth of stolen Nike sneakers from a warehouse in Torrance, California.
The investigation began when LAPD detectives received a report about multiple cargo containers being stolen from trucks stationed near the Port of Los Angeles, according to a report from CBS Los Angeles. Acting on the information, investigators followed a trail leading them to a Torrance warehouse. A search warrant was served, leading to the discovery of the stolen goods.
Millions worth of stolen Nike sneakers were stored in the warehouse and were the only objects seized by police. Despite the significance of the recovery, no arrests have been made yet. However, the LAPD says it has identified several persons of interest and are currently trying to track them down.
Product SKUs for sneakers including the Nike Dunk High Panda (W) and an unreleased colorway of the Nike Nocta Glide are visible in images of the stolen boxes. Other upcoming and unreleased pairs of sneakers have hit the secondary market after being stolen in the past. Just last year, videos of a train yard in Memphis being robbed was connected to several early Jordan Brand releases being sold online through marketplaces such as StockX.
