Although the Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t sweep the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series, the city of LA and the Dodgers will most certainly settle a victory in only five games. Right after the victory late last night, Vanessa Bryant, wife of the late-great Kobe Bryant, took to Instagram to showcase some new Nike Kobe x Los Angeles Dodgers merch.
Kobe’s love for the Dodgers is well-documented, as he has supported the team since joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996. He and his family have also thrown out the first pitch and have attended many games over the years, even using a first-pitch ceremony to debut the soon-to-be-released Nike Kobe 6 Protro Los Angeles Dodgers colorway.
As for the apparel shown by Vanessa, we see a Dodgers blue hoodie with a Mamba sheath logo placed below the phrase "Job Finished," adding the MLB team's font to the letter "D" in the phrase. This is a nod to Bryant's iconic quote, which, when asked why he didn't appear happy when up 2-0 in the 2009 NBA Finals, stated, "What's to be happy about? Jobs not finished." The back of the hoodie also reads "8 in 24," referencing this being the eighth World Series victory for the Dodgers, the year in which this took place, and the two numbers worn by Bryant during his NBA career.
Release info for this hoodie and other possible Nike Kobe x Los Angeles Dodgers apparel has yet to be announced, with this possibly being exclusive to friends and family of the Bryants. However, as mentioned before, the Dodgers will be honored by Nike and Kobe Bryant’s estate with the Nike Kobe 6 Protro Dodgers PE, which will release in Summer 2025.
