With a history of creating timeless, understated sneakers, New Balance continues to celebrate its heritage with collaborations that complement its brand ethos. In a fresh and exciting partnership for 2023, the American footwear giant has joined forces with WTAPS, the revered Japanese streetwear label. WTAPS has proven to be an exceptional partner for New Balance, previously working on the 992 and 990v2. Continuing to put a spin on the 99X series, WTAPS is now working on the latest entry — the New Balance 990v6.
The WTAPS x New Balance 990v6 Made in USA remains faithful to the iconic, muted aesthetic for which New Balance is celebrated. The upper employs grey pigskin suede adoring the mudguard, midfoot, and heel portions. Contrasting this is a mesh base rendered in a refined grey-silver finish. The "N" comes to life along the midfoot with a 3M reflective finish. WTAPS has placed “USA” text near the lateral heel, a change from the standard 990 logo. Co-branding is found on the spine of the heel, where both WTAPS and “Made in USA” are proudly displayed. Completing the design is a two-tone grey and white FuelCell-cushioned midsole and a grey rubber outsole.
The WTAPS x New Balance 990v6 Made in USA will release on August 25, 2023 via WTAPS and select retailers in Japan. A global release currently is set for September 1.. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $260.
