Over the past two decades, Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have redefined the boundaries of sportswear and high fashion with the sub-label Y-3. Consistently delivering innovative and edgy designs, 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of this partnership. A special edition of the timeless Stan Smith silhouette has been crafted to mark the milestone. First reported by Hypebeast, we have first looks at the Y-3 x adidas Stan Smith 20th Anniversary "White Black."
Yohji Yamamoto and co. retain the classic silhouette of the original Stan Smith but incorporate unique design elements to elevate the sneaker's aesthetics. Premium leather wraps around the entire upper and comes in a stark white hue, while we see a contrasting black tongue sport a portrait of Yohji Yamamoto instead of the usual Stan Smith photo. More added touches from Y-3 include the Yohji Yamamoto-branded heel tab, which features his name embossed into the leather below the typical Trefoil logo and his name stamped onto the leather insole. Rounding out the design is a black rubber midsole and outsole.
The Y-3 x adidas Stan Smith 20th Anniversary "White Black" will release Fall/Winter 2023 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
