On its lifestyle front, adidas is experimenting with various archival revivals, strategic shifts in product assortments, and it is introducing new designs like the Adizero Aruku. While the sneaker was teased in May, official images of the sneaker emerged in its debut White Pure Ruby colorway.
Immediately drawing a comparison to the Colossal Titan from the iconic anime Attack on Titan (which was translated into an adidas shoe thanks to BAIT on the Ultraboost in 2022), the adidas Adizero Aruku draws inspiration from the Adizero PR from the 2000s but with a modern twist that aligns with today's trends. According to the brand, the Aruku "represents a fusion of global influences, redefining the boundaries between athletic performance and urban fashion. It transcends traditional sneaker design to make a bold cultural statement.”
The upper is crafted from a single piece of mesh, ensuring breathability and a sleek look. Bone-like TPU overlays provide structure and durability, while black Three Stripes on the midfoot offer a striking contrast. The heel features a stability counter, enhancing support during wear. Underfoot, the Aruku introduces adidas' new Swirlfoam cushioning technology, designed to provide superior comfort. The chunky midsole is not just for aesthetics; it utilizes a rocker setup, promoting smooth transitions with each step.
The adidas Adizero Aruku White Pure Ruby is set to release on October 1, 2024, with a re-stock planned for April 2025 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $140. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
